I managed to take in not one, but two live musical performances this season: The Trans-Siberian Orchestra at the "Energy Solutions Arena" (it'll always be the Delta Center to us nostalgics), and Video Games Live at Abravanel Hall.

TSO was an incredible show. I'd heard some of their work (and who hasn't, nowdays, even if they don't know it), but I've never listened to a complete album or seen any of their shows. Noone I know has seen a show. I went in only somewhat prepared. Having experienced it, however, I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone, except perhaps my grandmother. She might not like it. I would call it, maybe, "The Forgotten Carols" for the AC/DC crowd. It was loud, with lights, lasers, and fire, moving walkways and "132 tons" of metal hung over the musicians' heads, most of it mobile.

See it.
