I was in my car yesterday, and this story was on the radio. Really, NPR, the fact that an orangutan will poke at an iPad is news?

We've known for a long time that primates of questionable intellectual capacity will spend a lot of time poking at a shiny screen for relatively little actual reward, why is it news that these apes will do the same thing?

Apes have been poking at buttons for a long time, but now it's newsworthy that they'll poke at buttons drawn on the screen of an iPad?

Has the world suddenly become such an uninteresting place that nothing better could be found to fill two minutes of time?
